The better the deal, the more you need to investigate the type of site you are visiting. Some sites are either scam sites or they don’t have the security necessary to keep your information safe. If it’s a site that you have never heard of, or the web address is rather complicated, then you might want to consider shopping elsewhere as you might be putting yourself and your privacy at risk.

Online shopping is going to continue to grow, but you must be on the lookout for breaches in privacy. Your information is your life and you must protect it online.

It is time to rent the perfect apartment, time to be on your own, living in your own space. You get to make all the decisions. It is an exciting time, even if it brings with it just a little angst.

However, taking this challenge on as say, a favorite shopping trip, applying all those rules that you apply to retail therapy, can make the shopping trip for an apartment not only successful, but as fun as shopping for the perfect pair of shoes. There are so many Chicago apartments for rent that the selection is simply dazzling.

Once you know that you want to be in the Chicago area, a huge decision that should make you feel better already, you have to decide what to put in your apartment and where. How can you utilize your space in the best way? How do you make your apartment your own, give it your look and your touch? Obviously, the answer is: browsing.

Read magazines, surf the web, take a walk in your new neighborhood. These are all ways to get ideas for your new space. You may see something you really like, then add your flare, and it is your own. Maybe it is a particular favorite color scheme, maybe it has nothing to do with color, but rather where you place your furniture that makes you apartment unique.

Smart Shopping Tips

Online shopping has come a long way from just a few years ago. People are no longer as apprehensive about entering their credit card number into the computer and often do it freely without thinking. But being aware of safe online shopping practices will ensure your identity is protected.

Always use familiar websites and merchants. If you know a website has a “.com” at the end of the address, don’t be fooled by a lookalike with a “.net” or other ending. Cons like this are common and are an easy way to steal your information.

Look for the secure encryption. Most online merchants should have the secure sockets layer encryption in the web address. It should start with HTTPS:// (instead of the usual HTTP://). That extra S and padlock icon that appear ensures the page is safe.

Use smarter payment methods. Instead of entering your credit card number, have a Visa prepaid card or any other prepaid debit card. These cards only contain the amounts of money you yourself have put on them, meaning that if the numbers are stolen, thieves won’t run your credit into the ground.

Safeguard your password. Don’t give your online passwords or debit card pin numbers out to anyone. These numbers act as your identification, so anyone with access to them can pretend to be you.

Only use private computers. When buying online, filling up the shopping cart of a public computer leaves you open to identify theft. Many computers automatically remember passwords and credit card numbers so don’t put yourself in that situation. Shop smart.
